This prevents the filter from filling up too fast and restricting the air flow. In the second phase, the light green Mid-Filter is designed to filter contaminants that are one micron or less in size. In the final phase, the dense blue material is coated with a tacky layer that maximizes efficiency. The 3 Phase Progressive Density Material filters airborne allergens like dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander and dust mite debris. 100% Synthetic filter media will not support the growth of Bacteria, Mold, or Fungi in normal use. Heavy Duty industrial grade wire frame and internal center support prevents "ballooning" during operation. The MERV Rating System was developed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), an independent, unbiased organization. A higher MERV indicates better performance. As the industry standard, the MERV rating should be considered the final word on filter performance.
