Campari l'aperitif by Leonetto Cappiello

Italian-born graphic designer Leonetto Cappiello traveled to Paris in 1898 to draw advertisements. He became famous for ads such as this one for Camapari (1921), which recommends the bitter, cherry-pink alcoholic drink as an aperitif, to be taken before dinner (as opposed to the digestif, taken after dinner). Campari is made according to a secret recipe originally developed in 1860 by Gaspare Campari.
